Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. They are small metal screws that are placed into the jawbone to act like artificial tooth roots. A restoration crown is fitted on top.
Most people are surprised with how little discomfort is experienced. Any discomfort can usually be managed at home with normal painkillers.
We understand that some people don’t like coming to the dentist, especially to have complex treatment. We do everything we can to ensure that our patients are made to feel at ease, and that they’re in safe hands. Our purpose-built practice has been specifically designed for patient comfort, creating a welcoming ambiance that will help to alleviate feelings of anxiety.
Providing you look after your mouth, maintain good oral hygiene and see your dentist regularly, dental implants can last many years.
It is important to address any existing problems before dental implants are placed to maximise success of treatment. If you have bleeding gums, bad breath or loose teeth your dentist will need to find and treat the cause of the problem first.
At Guildhall we offer the services of a Consultant Anaesthetist, who will be present at your appointment and will manage the administration of your anaesthesia.

This will leave your dentist in a position to be able to concentrate upon undertaking your dental treatment whilst the anaesthetist monitors your vital signs.

We also employ sedation trained nurses at the practice who will assist with your care. The whole dental team who are involved with sedation services receive extra training in life support.
