Veneers

An instant confidence boost

Veneers can provide an instant boost to your smile and our dentists at Guildhall Dental use veneers to hide discolouration and close gaps, with little or no work being needed on the tooth itself, making them kinder to teeth than many other cosmetic treatments. They can also improve the appearance of misaligned or crooked teeth.

Composite Veneers

Traditional veneers are essentially like false finger nails for teeth. Like fingernails, the teeth are prepared to accommodate the veneers involving the removal of a small amount of the healthy tooth.

Composite veneers use a similar material to tooth-coloured fillings and this is called composite bonding. Layers of tooth-coloured filling material are built up to look like natural teeth in order to repair minor irregularities in the teeth.
For more complex situations, the veneers may need to be made by a laboratory technician.

Little or no healthy tooth tissue is removed in this process. Instead bonding provides a quick, painless and reversible solution to cosmetic problems, such as gaps, chips and discolouration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Veneers are not always the most ideal treatment for everyone and we may advise other treatments before you decide to have veneers. We will always go through treatment options clearly with you during an initial consultation so have all the information you need to make your decision.
Veneers are thin shells of ceramic that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Layers of the translucent, ceramic porcelain allow light to shine through, resulting in brighter, natural-looking teeth. When used on multiple teeth, veneers can dramatically re-model your entire smile and this has earned them the name ‘instant orthodontics’.
Fitting veneers is carried out in two stages. First, the teeth are prepared to make room for the veneers and impressions taken to use as a template for your custom-made veneers. The second stage involves fitting the veneers to your prepared teeth.
Having veneers fitted isn’t painful at all. We prepare the teeth under local anaesthetic to minimise any potential discomfort and our friendly team of professionals is on hand to make sure you feel looked after and at ease at all times.
To maximise the lifespan of your newly fitted veneers, our highly trained team of hygienists will show you what you can do at home to keep your teeth looking their absolute best. Our hygiene sessions last for 30 minutes and we advise you visit us for regular appointments.

Paul – General Dentistry

“My first impressions coming in here really were how lovely, modern, spacious, and bright the surgery was. All of the staff were very friendly, friendly receptionists, which is always a good thing, a bonus. And when I did see the dentist, the dentist herself was extremely pleasant and accommodating. So it was a very positive experience.”
